Announcing our 2021 Season
There seems to be a buzz in the air as we anticipate a summer season that—dare we say it?—will be about as close to normal as we’ve experienced since the pandemic started last year. Here at The Forestburgh Playhouse, we’re not only giddy about our upcoming season (more on that below!), but we’re also profoundly grateful for the support we’ve gotten from you during this difficult time. Needless to say, we wouldn’t have weathered this storm without you and we think the best way to say thanks is to make our 75th Anniversary Season the best one yet!
Forestburgh Under the Stars
Our 75th Anniversary Season has already kicked off with Forestburgh Under the Stars, a series of exciting, innovative, and safe concerts under the stars in our beautiful award-winning gardens. These concerts feature the best of Broadway and the shining stars of our own Sullivan Catskills. We’ve got Tony Award nominees, Broadway and cabaret stars, and our 75 and Thrive Benefit Concert starring Elizabeth Stanley. 75 and Thriving Mainstage Season
After the 4th of July, we’ll be kicking off our mainstage summer season with musicals, plays, cabarets, children’s theatre and more. Here’s what you can look forward to this summer:
The Diamond Anniversary Revue: Celebrating 75 Years of the Forestburgh Playhouse
Our talented Resident Company performs the best songs and dances from the Playhouse archives, the perfect way to celebrate the rich legacy of the Forestburgh Playhouse and the joy of musical theatre.
Altar Boyz the Musical
If you love a good musical comedy, don’t miss this foot-stomping, rafter-raising musical about a fictitious Christian boy band. Come for the laughs, stay for the tight harmonies and spectacular choreography!
BEEHIVE the Musical
BEEHIVE celebrates the iconic female voices of the 1960s with a musical that centers the perspective of six young women who come of age during this tumultuous time. Featuring timeless classics like “Son of a Preacher Man” and “Me and Bobby McGee,” you’ll find it hard not to sing along!
The World Goes ‘Round
The World Goes ‘Round features the songbook of celebrated writing team Kander and Ebb, along with humor, romance, and drama. This is a musical theatre treat that will delight audiences of all ages!
You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
A charming musical theatre experience, this revue of songs and vignettes is filled with fun, comedy, and plenty of heart and explores life through the eyes of Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang.
Babes in Arms
Rodgers and Hart’s Babes in Arms is a fitting musical for our 75th Anniversary Season—after all, it’s about a group of plucky young artists who produce and perform a musical in a barn! You’ll love the classic Broadway tunes and the fresh, witty script from acclaimed playwright Douglas Carter Bean.
Buyer & Cellar
This outrageous comedy features the story of a struggling actor who takes a job working in the Malibu basement of Barbra Streisand. This is a can’t miss for fans of Babs, but everyone will love this story about the price of fame and the oddest of odd jobs.
