75 And Thrive Continues

For 74 years, the Forestburgh Playhouse has celebrated the magic of theatre. Thousands of performances and events have brought audiences to the playhouse to be entertained and performers to the playhouse to showcase their talents.

2020 has brought its challenges and thanks to your support, we were able to pivot and reboot our 74th Season Under the Stars. For 9 weeks, we brought the best of Broadway (Tony Winners, Tony Nominees, cabaret stars and more) and from our own backyard to our outdoor stage to provide safe and exciting entertainment to sold out crowds. Now, the big challenge awaits--2021 is right around the corner and we cannot wait to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Playhouse with you!

The show must go on and we cannot survive without the support of the community, and that means you. But in order for us to be around to do that, we are in urgent need of your help.

How Can You Help?

Donate to our 75 and Thrive fundraiser. You can make a one time donation, or better yet, become a partner and help us raise more funds. As an individual you can help, but together we can do more. Being a partner means using your social media, email, and networking skills to spread the word in the hopes of getting your friends, family, and acquaintances to donate to our cause. We’ll give you everything you need to get the word out, including logos, photos, and verbiage. All you have to do is share the information.

What Are the Benefits of Live Theatre?

If you’re wondering why this is a worthy cause to support, consider the following benefits of live theatre.

  • It brings arts and culture to the area. For a culturally rich community, a strong arts presence is a necessity. Theatre arts is one of the oldest forms of artistic expression. It’s a way to tell a story, teach a lesson, and portray emotions. A successful theatre develops the talent of local performers and attracts talented performers to the area.

  • It teaches confidence and social skills. When performers participate in a production, especially young people, they develop confidence via stage presence, learn to project their voice, and how to play a certain part. Theatre teaches social skills, even for those who work behind the scenes, as everyone must work together to put on a good show.

  • It's entertaining. Attending a performance is always a good time. You may laugh, you may cry, you may feel a laundry list of emotions, but you will definitely have fun. Going to a play is a fun group outing, a romantic date night, or even something fun to do solo rather than bingeing TV.

  • It brings people together. A live theatre performance unites the cast and crew as they practice and perform. A special kind of connection also forms between the performers and the audience when the performance takes place, which is the magic of theatre.

We Look Forward to the Time When We Can Be Together Again

The COVID-19 pandemic has prevented us from doing theatre the way we would have done it in the past. Now that our 74th Season Under the Stars has come to a close, we need your support more than ever. Like we always do, we will plan during our off-season for the following summer--this year’s difference is that we are starting this process at a deficit and will need your help to come back stronger than ever.

Our 75 and Thrive campaign was created to help us weather the storm so that we can get back to doing what we do best, dazzling audiences with our talents. Have you found yourself saying, “I can’t wait until we can go see another production at the Forestburgh Playhouse when this is all over!”? If so, we need all the help we can get to make sure we get to celebrate our 75th anniversary.

Support the 75 And Thrive Campaign today by making a donation today. You can also make a donation over the phone by calling (845) 794-2005.
